Marianne Motha

Marianne received her undergraduate degree from York University in Political Science in 1999 and was on the Dean’s Honour Roll.  She graduated with her LLB from the University of Western Ontario in 2003.

Following her call to the Bar in 2004, Marianne spent 3 years practicing in the area of plaintiff personal injury.  Marianne commenced her career  in insurance defence in  2007 at a prominent insurance defence firm.   She joined Zarek Taylor Grossman Hanrahan LLP in 2010, where she practices insurance defence litigation, with a focus on automobile insurance (tort, accident benefits, priority disputes and loss transfer).

Marianne has represented insurers in arbitration proceedings at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and  has also appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Divisional Court for both tort and accident benefit matters.

Marianne’s 3 years of experience in plaintiff personal injury litigation and 4 years of experience in insurance defence litigation have given her an edge in terms of analyzing and evaluating a claim from both perspectives.  She is focused on getting clients results that are cost-efficient, and varies her strategies between litigation oriented or settlement focused, based on the merits of the claim and the expectations of her clients.

Marianne is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Advocates’ Society.
