Christine McKenna

Christine obtained her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto in 1990 and graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1993.  She articled at Genest, Murray, DesBrisay, Lamek where she was involved in a wide array of general litigation and tribunal work, and also involved in the defence of numerous insurance claims.

Following her call to the Bar in 1995, Christine worked as a Legal Editor and Trainer for Carswell Publishing for two years, until she joined Zarek Taylor Grossman Hanrahan in August 1997.

Christine assisted in the preparation of the summaries for the CCH Ontario Accident Benefits Case Summaries publication, and developed both a strong familiarity and high comfort level in dealing with all types of accident benefit related issues under all regimes.

Christine primarily practices in the area of first party accident benefits with an emphasis on catastrophic claims as well as handling loss transfer and priority disputes on behalf of our clients.  She also provides advise on the interface between accident benefits and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.

Christine has attended at the Financial Services Commission, before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal and Superior Court.  She is also co-author of the paper Accident Benefits: Lessons from the Past with the Hope for a Better Insurance Product in Future published in Law Society of Upper Canada Special Lectures 2008: Personal Injury Law (Irwin Law: 2009).
